Description

Develop the skills and knowledge to succeed as a manager in the transportation and logistics industry. You will study the following topics:

  • Logistics processes
  • Transportation systems
  • Business communications
  • Economics

The Programs at European School Of Management are delivered using a variety of instruction modes. Courses may be offered in the classroom or lab, entirely online, or in a hybrid mode which combines classroom sessions with online learning activities. Upon registration, each full-time student is provided an School email account which is used to communicate important information about program or course events.

Transportation Systems - Transportation Systems provides the learner with comprehensive knowledge of the background and current technical information for all the modes of transportation as well as intermodalism.  Students will be able to compare the five modes of transportation and identify their strengths and weaknesses.  In addition to the transportation modes, students will also gain a foundational understanding of the elements within the distribution chain, specifically warehousing, materials handling, and unitization devices.  In addition, the course will introduce the learner to the intermediate agencies (including freight forwarding and transportation brokers) as they relate to the field of transportation.

Logistics Processes - Become familiar with contracts and bills of lading, marine cargo insurance, warehousing, Canada Customs and dangerous goods transportation. Learn about damage prevention and claims, materials handling, unitization fees, physical distribution and computer applications to transportation.

Business Communication - This course will guide students through the techniques and processes involved in writing, speaking, and listening effectively for business. Students will be taught skills for networking, meetings, and working in teams. Students will apply a direct approach to create professional emails and letters. Students will learn strategies for competent information report writing. Students will be taught how to create and deliver a memorable oral presentation. The proper use of business writing rules, grammar, and etiquette will be emphasized throughout the course.

Safety, Security and Environment - A safe and secure work environment ensures the safety and security of people and products. You will learn to maintain data security, follow warehouse security plans and respond to emergency protocols while adhering to government regulations and workplace health, environment and safety protocols. You will also learn about the environmental initiatives and trends within the supply chain.

Human Behaviour in Organizations - Address psychological principles and sociological concepts of human behaviour in formal and informal organized groups. Learn the main aspects of individual and group behaviour in purposeful group settings. Explore topics including group relationships, types of groups, task orientation, group structure, communication, leadership, group performance, psychological climate, human needs in organizations, status, and social roles.

Marketing - The course is designed to provide students with a current and relevant strategic approach to the principles of marketing. Terms such as target markets, marketing mixes, and strategic planning will be uncovered through lectures, activities, cases, and assignments with a student-centered approach focusing on how to connect with the customer in today's digital and global world.

Principles of Marketing - This course consists of detailed investigations of the topics of the basic concepts of marketing, marketing environment, consumer behavior, segmentation, targeting, positioning, product development, pricing, place and promotion strategies. 

Applied Workshop in Logistics - The course content includes the contemporary issues about logistics and supply chain management, academic and scientific studies, success stories and specific business cases.

Documentation in Logistics - International sales of goods contracts, international delivery and payment terms. Regulations governing logistics and transportation. Carriage, international conventions related to transportation, carriage contracts and liabilities of parties in carriage contracts, warehousing contracts, documents used in transportation.

 Logistics Planning and Modeling II -  The course includes the fundamentals of the analytical tools available to reduce costs and improve service levels in logistics systems. Strategic, tactical and operational level decisions regarding logistics system design, inventory management, warehouse design and operations, facility location, freight transport planning are studied and modeled using operations research tools

Careers

Graduates may find employment as financial advisors or associates, financial service representatives, account managers or investment specialists in a broad range of financial institutions including retail banks, credit unions, financial planning offices, insurance companies, brokerage firms and other businesses dedicated to providing personal financial advice and services.

Learning Outcomes

The graduate has reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  1. Integrate ethical decision-making processes into all aspects of the financial planning profession.
  2. Apply recognized financial planning principles and industry standards to the systematic analysis of financial position and requirements.
  3. Prepare accurate and relevant financial plans manually and electronically.
  4. Integrate economic and personal information necessary for effective financial planning decisions.
  5. Compare, contrast, and select from appropriate financial products and services, investment planning and counseling services for the public according to industry standards, including taxation counseling.
  6. Effectively market financial products through the development of an inventory of prospective clients, following up with individual sales strategies in pursuit of new and renewal business.
  7. Identify potential tax and legal implications within a financial planning situation.
  8. Apply written and verbal client-focused communication styles and strategies and model professional practice in all communication according to industry standards.
  9. Research market opportunities and design a financial plan in support of client needs.
  10. Provide recommendations and options to the public for managing risk involving life and health insurance products.
  11. Design an ongoing professional development and career plan related to the financial industry.
  12. Identify and apply discipline-specific practices that contribute to the local and global community through social responsibility, economic commitment and environmental stewardship.

Application Information

Applications are available online at application section  100 ₾ fee applies.

Applications for Fall Term and Winter Term admission received by February 1 will be given equal consideration. Applications received after February 1 will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis as long as places are available.
